The ranking was determined by the votes of more than 757,000 food lovers nationwide, signaling overwhelming national support for Oakland’s restaurant scene, neighborhood eateries, and beverage culture.

Oakland’s food scene thrives on the strength of its neighborhoods, each offering a distinct culinary identity. In Temescal, diners flock to soul food and creative pizza spots that mix bold flavors with traditional techniques. In Fruitvale, taco trucks are widely celebrated for serving some of the best birria in the nation, drawing food lovers from across the Bay Area. Throughout Downtown and West Oakland, international cuisine lines the streets, from Asian fusion to West African dishes and Middle Eastern bakeries.
